When you share your story with us to turn it into a personal song, we treat that information with the same care as the song itself, with attention, respect, and discretion. MaakMijnSong is a Dutch company creating personal songs for special moments such as birthdays, anniversaries, and final farewells. We only use the information necessary to create and deliver your song properly.

We use your data to create and deliver your personal song, to communicate with you about your order, to process payments and administration, and to improve our services. We never sell or rent your data to third parties.

4. Songs on YouTube

Some songs are published, only with your consent, as a sample version on our YouTube channel. Each version includes the embedded text This is a song sample within the music, ensuring your original version cannot be copied or reused.

Personal photos or sensitive content will never be shared without your permission. Your story remains private, while others can hear how we work.

5. Writing process and creative support

Every song at MaakMijnSong starts with a human touch. Lyrics are written by hand, with emotion and attention to the story you share. We sometimes use digital tools or AI programs to support the production, but never to replace your emotions or words.

Your data is used solely within this creative process and only by trusted partners who comply with European privacy laws (GDPR). We advise you not to include sensitive or confidential information in open text fields.

6. Who we work with

We only share data when necessary to create your song, for example with our hosting provider for secure website storage, our payment provider for transactions, or singers and musicians involved in your project. All partners we work with are bound by confidentiality and follow GDPR rules.

7. Data retention

• Order and payment data: 7 years (legal obligation)
• Lyrics, audio, and project data: up to 1 year, unless you request earlier deletion

After that, all files are securely deleted or archived.

8. Cookies

Our website only uses functional cookies necessary for the site to work properly. We do not use tracking cookies or follow visitor behavior.

9. Security

We take your privacy seriously. Our website uses SSL encryption, strong passwords, and internal access restrictions. All data is stored on secure servers within the EU.

10. What we don’t do

We don’t flood you with ads, newsletters, or unwanted emails. We won’t ask you to join mailing lists or send promotions. We dislike spam as much as you do, so we won’t make you click “unsubscribe” over and over again.
